About Victoria Ryle

I started teaching grade prep-2 in schools in culturally diverse areas of London in 1983, including a language and literacy development team, and as the Language in the National Curriculum (LINC) advisory teacher in the London Borough of Hackney. I have been involved in publishing books with children as authors for over 30 years, including through my work with Kids' Own Publishing in Ireland and Australia.

In 1997 I founded Kids’ Own Publishing Partnership with artist Simon Spain in Ireland and subsequently established Kids’ Own Publishing in Melbourne in 2003 as not-for-profit arts organisations publishing books by children through artist-led community partnerships, and presenting on this practice worldwide. Currently I am co-director of all that we are, a residency and gatherings space just outside Hobart that includes ArTELIER Tasmania – a professional learning program for community engaged artists https://arteliertasmania.org.
